Manuscripts Intended for Laboratory Courses
Laboratory manuscripts should focus on instrument operation (e.g., technique, signal optimization,
sensitivity, sample preparation, etc.). The submitted manuscript must be complete; few, if any, other
written materials (other than instrument manuals) should be necessary to repeat the work. The procedure
should be general so that it can be adapted to a variety of instrument brands and models.
Furthermore, the instrumentation must be available at a significant number of colleges and
universities.

Manuscripts Intended for Lecture Courses or Discussion Sections
For instrument reviews intended for use in lectures or discussions, rather than the laboratory,
the instrument need not be available at a significant number of colleges laboratories. However, the
instruments or instrumental techniques described should be used widely in analytical or research
laboratories. Finally, the materials presented in the manuscript should be understandable at the
level of a junior or senior undergraduate chemistry major.
