Full Text
The Executive Committee of the ACS Division of Chemical Education met on Saturday, September 6, prior to the ACS Fall National Meeting in Las Vegas. Among other actions, the Committee voted to appoint Ann Cartwright and reappoint John Gelder to the Journal's Board of Publication for three year terms. They also reappointed Don Jones and appointed Claire Baker to the Board of Trustees of the CHED Examinations Institute, each for three year terms.

The results of the annual election of officers appears at the right. In addition, the membership approved the proposed changes to the Articles of Incorporation and the Division of Chemical Education Bylaws by votes of 767 to 122 and 791 to 101, respectively. As a result of these changes (which still need final approval by the ACS Committee on Constitution and Bylaws), CHED affiliate members (those who are not members of ACS) will be allowed to vote for the Division offices of Chair-elect, Treasurer, and Member-at-Large in future elections. Since ACS governance requires Councilors to be ACS members, affiliate members will not be able to vote for CHED Councilors.

Chemistry Teacher Connection

The "Chemistry Teacher Connection" (CTC) is especially for high school chemistry teachers. For only $40/year, it offers an online-only subscription to CLIC along with membership in the Division of Chemical Education, normally $65/year. CTC subscribers receive access to all articles and supplements from 1996 through the current issue.

C&EN CLICs

Through special arrangement with the ACS, JCE High School CLIC is now able to provide subscribers with online access to Chemical & Engineering News articles that have been selected specifically for secondary science instructors and their students.
