Full Text

Jan Koolman and Klaus-Heinrich Röhm; Kathryn Schuller, Trans. Thieme Medical: Stuttgart and New York, 1996. 435 pp, 194 color plates. ISBN 0-86577-584-2. Paper, $29.90.

This is a small book literally packed with structural information about biochemistry and its functioning. It is aimed at students of medicine and it is small enough to be tucked into a suit-coat pocket. It is an amazing pocketbook, if you will.

The visual presentation drives the book and the color plates and structural detail are well worth the price of admission. There is much biochemistry here with a solid introduction but where this little book really shines is in graphically illustrating the many applications of that chemistry.

This volume is an updated and expanded translation of the German edition, which was published in 1994.

Chemistry Teacher Connection

The "Chemistry Teacher Connection" (CTC) is especially for high school chemistry teachers. For only $40/year, it offers an online-only subscription to CLIC along with membership in the Division of Chemical Education, normally $65/year. CTC subscribers receive access to all articles and supplements from 1996 through the current issue.

C&EN CLICs

Through special arrangement with the ACS, JCE High School CLIC is now able to provide subscribers with online access to Chemical & Engineering News articles that have been selected specifically for secondary science instructors and their students.
