Demonstrating Luminescence. A blue solution, chemiluminescent from the oxidation of luminol, cascades down a tower of glasses. An array of luminescent phenomena including fluorescence, phosphorescence, and chemiluminescence are discussed by Patricia B. O'Hara, Carol Engelson, and Wayne St. Peter in the JCE Classroom Activity and in the article "Turning on the Light: Lessons from Luminescence". Other luminescence demonstrations are described by Hernán E. Prypsztejn in "Chemiluminescent Oscillating Demonstrations: The Chemical Buoy, the Lighting Wave, and the Ghostly Cylinde".
