Full Text
Each year we compile the text and graphics for all the articles, features, reviews, and supplemental material published in that year’s volume of the Journal of Chemical Education onto one easily accessible medium: JCE CD. The 2005 edition of this series includes all 12 issues of JCE published in 2005.

JCE CD 2005 is one small CD-ROM that contains a full year of JCE issues. It works on both Macintosh and Windows computers and contains the full text, graphics, and tables for everything published in the Journal, as well as abstracts, supplemental materials, color versions of some figures, and the annual index. The annual CD is formatted so that the articles retain their original printed appearance. Articles are easy to find and view, so that with a few mouse clicks you can locate, read, and print an article from your computer. Full-text searching for any author, title, word, or phrase enables you to find what you are looking for, quickly. JCE CD 2005 takes up hardly any shelf space and is very portable.

Browsing and Searching

JCE CD provides several ways to obtain the information you want. If you remember an article and the issue in which it appeared (or what the cover of the issue looked like) a click on the Welcome page will take you to the table of contents of the issue. The title of each article in the table of contents is a link to the article. Each article includes an abstract, keywords, and links to any supplemental material that may accompany the article, as well as the article itself.

You can also search the contents of the CD using Adobe Reader (included on the CD). You can search the text of all articles for any word, partial word, or phrase. You can also search titles, authors, and keywords. A successful search produces a list of links to the articles that satisfy your criteria. The text for which you searched will be highlighted in each article found by the search.

You will find that many references to JCE articles in the Literature Cited section at the end of each article are linked to the article cited. If that article is not on the CD and you have an Internet connection, the linked reference will take you to JCE Online. Cited URLs (to other than JCE Online) that appear in articles are also linked directly to Web sites.

Advantages of JCE on CD-ROM

JCE CD 2005 is formatted so that all articles retain their original appearance. All pages of the Journal that contain editorial content, including the front covers, tables of contents, letters, and reviews, are included. Also included are a wealth of supplemental materials.

The Journal of Chemical Education on CD-ROM is a useful tool for chemical educators. Its full-text searching feature helps you locate articles on a particular topic or written by a particular author. With a few clicks of the mouse, you can view an article on your computer monitor. You can print it and read it in any setting you choose. There is no need to go to a library to locate an issue of JCE to read or to photocopy the article you want. Having a full year of the Journal in a compact, lightweight, portable package is extremely convenient.

Chemistry Teacher Connection

The "Chemistry Teacher Connection" (CTC) is especially for high school chemistry teachers. For only $40/year, it offers an online-only subscription to CLIC along with membership in the Division of Chemical Education, normally $65/year. CTC subscribers receive access to all articles and supplements from 1996 through the current issue.

C&EN CLICs
