As readers of this Journal probably know, the Division of Chemical Education (DivCHED) established an endowment in 2004 to support Regional Awards for Excellence in High School Teaching in each of the ACS Regions. DivCHED has also taken on the responsibility for oversight of these awards in the 10 ACS regions. More than $100,000 has been raised in donations since the establishment of the endowment in 2004; this amount was matched by DivCHED. We are working toward the goal of raising $300,000—the amount needed to maintain the program in perpetuity. More donations are needed, but there are now sufficient funds on hand to introduce this award program at this years eight regional ACS meetings.
