Back to Web Sites Category List

Chemical Achievers: The Human Face of the Chemical Sciences

  • History of various chemical achievers is separated into eleven categories: forerunners; theory and production of gases; electrochemistry and electrochemical industries; the path to the periodic table; atomic and nuclear structure; chemical synthesis, structure, and bonding; pharmaceuticals and the path to biomolecules; petroleum and petrochemicals; plastics and other polymers; chemical engineering: chemistry scales up for industry; human and natural environmental concerns. (5/2009)

The Faces of Science: African Americans in the Sciences

  • Profiles African American men and women who have contributed to the advancement of science and engineering. Collects names in 16 groupings such as chemists, physicists, biologists, inventors, mathematicians, etc. Also contains information on the past, present and the future leadership of African Americans in the sciences and electronic conferences. (5/2009)

4000 Years of Women in Science

  • Contains very brief biographies for over 125 women scientists along with picture links for some of the women. (5/2009)

Science Education Bookmarks: Famous Scientists

  • Quite a long list of links to scientists (male and female). A word of caution: most of the links are no longer accessible. (5/2009)

Atomic Structure Timeline

  • By Lee Buescher of Watertown High School in Watertown, Wisconsin, this site offers early theories of the structure of matter and a list of scientists with their noted discoveries. Most of the names are hotlinked to other URLs containing additional information about the scientists. (5/2009)

Chemistry Teacher Connection

The "Chemistry Teacher Connection" (CTC) is especially for high school chemistry teachers. For only $40/year, it offers an online-only subscription to CLIC along with membership in the Division of Chemical Education, normally $65/year. CTC subscribers receive access to all articles and supplements from 1996 through the current issue.

C&EN CLICs

Through special arrangement with the ACS, JCE High School CLIC is now able to provide subscribers with online access to Chemical & Engineering News articles that have been selected specifically for secondary science instructors and their students.

JCE Collections Available
Occasionally, collections of JCE back issues become available for donation to individual teachers, schools, or libraries. JCE matches collections with interested recipients. Recipients pay shipping costs or pick up the collection.
