The questions asked on this quiz are of five basic forms: What is the formula of…? What is the name of...? What type of compound is...? Which of the following is a...? What are the principal species in a solution of...? The unique aspect of What’s in a Name? is that it focuses on the reasons for learning the names of compounds and ions—that by learning the names we are learning information that is immediately helpful in identifying what is going on in an aqueous solution.
