Using a Thermometer with Magnetic Stirrer

A thermometer can be suspended in the solution so that it does not come in contact with the stirrer.

Discussion

If you use a thermometer to monitor the temperature of the solution, clamp it in place so that the thermometer's tip does not come into contact with the stir bar or the sides of the vessel.

Narrative

Immerse the entire thermometer bulb in the liquid but do not allow it to touch the bottom or sides of the vessel.
