Note:
This issue is out of print.

This issue marks the end of an era for JCE Software: it is the last issue for computers running under DOS, it is the last issue with a Series designation, and it is the last regular issue to contain more than one program.

In the ten-year history of Series B, JCE Software published 40 new titles and 4 updates in 20 issues, 21 new titles and 10 issues since the debut of Series D for Windows. Some of these Series B programs have been or will be updated to Windows versions or have evolved into Windows programs. HPLC (1) has been updated to HPLC for Windows (2) and KC? Discoverer (3) has evolved into Periodic Table Live! (4). A couple of authors have said that they are working on Windows versions of their DOS programs. Although there are no guarantees, I expect that we will publish these Windows versions.

Series B, RIP

Previously published Series B issues will be available while supplies last and will be supported indefinitely. Series B has been discontinued because we no longer receive submissions of DOS programs and sales of issues in Series B have slowed drastically. Should suitable MS-DOS programs be submitted that run under Windows, we may publish them with the W suffix (see below). Such submissions are no longer encouraged.

New Issue Designations

Many submissions that we now receive (especially those developed on the Mac OS) can be delivered on both Windows and Mac OS. Many of you now have heterogeneous computing environments where computer ÒcoursewareÓ needs to be available on both Windows and Mac OS. Given these circumstances, we are changing regular issue designations to sequentially numbered issues with W and/or M suffixes. Instead of offering separate issues for Windows and Mac OS versions of the same program, we will include both versions in the same issue.

One Program per Issue

Each issue that we publish will now contain only one program. This enables us to publish programs when they are ready and not delay them while we wait for other programs in an issue. As a user, you will get (and pay for) only the program that you need. This policy parallels many of our usersÕ expectations and we think it will be a popular change.
