Technical Support: General Chemistry Collection (Student Edition)

The following problems have been reported to JCE Software. The cause and solution of each are given.
For other questions asked about specific programs included in the General Chemistry collection, see the FAQ page. If you encounter a problem with the General Chemistry CD that is not listed here or on the FAQ page, please contact JCE Software.

Problem: The Windows Installation instructions in Read_Me.Wri for the Second Edition CD do not work.
Cause: The Read_Me.Wri file was damaged in file conversion, and this was not discovered until after the first printing of the CD. It will be corrected in future printings and future editions.
Solution: A corrected version of the Read Me file is available online. See this file for instructions for Windows installation.

Problem: VizQuiz will not run.
Cause: The file THREED.VBX needed to run VizQuiz was omitted from the first printing of the General Chemistry Collection CD. This problem has been corrected in the second edition.
Solution: Download a copy of the missing file and install it on your computer. Click THREED.VBX.
Unzip the file and copy it into your Windows System directory. Restart Windows and you should be able to run VisQuiz with no further problems.

Problem: Running Chemistry Navigator in my Mac 5260, Chemistry Navigator will not launch properly. I get a dialog asking me to find a file.
Cause: The first time you run Chemistry Navigator with a given version of HyperCard or HyperCard player, you must locate the first graphic. It is inside the Chemistry Navigator folder, in the Picts folder. Locating this graphic allows HyperCard to find all of the others needed.
Solution: When the dialog asking for the PICT file appears, navigate to the CD-ROM, the Chemistry Navigator folder, the Picts folder and then scroll down to the correct PICT file and click OK.
