Windows Programs
1. Problem: When using Internet Explorer 5.5 SP 2 or later under Windows, QuickTime movies do not load properly.
Cause: Internet Explorer 5.5 SP 2 and later versions no longer support Netscape-type plug-ins such as QuickTime and now require an ActiveX control.
Solution: Download and install the ActiveX version of the QuickTime plug-in from Apple Computer. You can check your QuickTime installation to make sure you have the correct configuration for your browser by opening http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/qtcheck/index.html.
2. Problem: We are receiving a
printer error when trying to print from Lake Study and then get a program error when exiting the application.
Cause:The printing error is due to a problem with the graphic of the authors signature near the end of Lake Study's Introductory message.
Solution:All other Lake Study Screens that can be printed print correctly. The temporary workaround is simply not to print the Introduction. JCE Software does not know when a revision might be available.
3. Problem: After running the JCE Software Setup program, superscripts and subscripts are not displayed properly in Window on the Solid State.
Cause: The setup program sometimes fails to install a font required by Window on the Solid State.
Solution: You can install the required font, JCE_sub_superscrpt, manually. A copy of the font file is found in the WinSS folder on the General Chemistry Collection CD-ROM.
- Click the Start button, then select Control Panel from the Settings menu.
- Double-click the Fonts folder in the Control Panel window. (If you are using Windows XP, Click Switch to Classic View in order to see the Fonts folder.)
- From the Fonts window File menu, select Install New Font….
- In the Add Fonts dialog, navigate to the JCE_sub_superscrpt.fon file, where X is the letter of your CD-ROM drive:
X:\WinSS\JCE_sub_superscrpt.fon
- With JCE_sub_superscrpt selected, click OK.
- Close the Fonts window and the Control Panel
