What are General Chemistry Multimedia Problems?

  • 32 problems each with several questions concerning chemical phenomena (See the abstract for a list of problems.)
  • Problems that ask students to answer questions based on their observations
  • Problems that encourage students to think about chemical demonstrations
  • Problems that require students to consider concepts learned in more than a single chapter of a typical introductory chemistry textbook
  • A terrific example of how video and still images from the Chemistry Comes Alive! series can be used in the classroom

How can you use General Chemistry Multimedia Problems?

  • Regularly assigned homework
  • Out-of-class collaborative group exercises
  • The basis for written essays in which the students answer the questions in detail
  • In-class discussion.
