Guide to Submissions to JCE Internet
JCE Internet is our online publishing division. Materials submitted for publication in JCE Internet include embedded animation, video, or interactivity that cannot be published in print. Dynamic resources that require continued updating or that are mainly online in nature are also appropriate for online publication.
JCE Internet publishes digital articles, data bases, resource lists, and reviews of Internet resources. Materials published by JCE Internet make essential use of the digital medium. (If you have a submission that you wish to have published in print, please consider the Journal of Chemical Education.)
Articles published by JCE Internet use the digital medium to embed animation, video, color graphics, interactive documents or applets within a hyperlinked text. An example is "How a Photon Is Created or Absorbed". Its use of embedded animation and interactive spreadsheets renders it impossible to publish in the print medium without greatly compromising its intent.
Abstracts of the articles accepted for publication by JCE Internet will appear in the print Journal. They will be listed separately in the Table of Contents just as reviews are currently listed. This will serve to notify our print subscribers of the items recently published by JCE Internet and to insure that the article is listed by the abstract services.
Resources and data bases published by JCE Internet aid chemistry educators in finding the information they seek. The Chemical Education Resource Shelf is such a resource. Its extensive listing of chemistry textbooks, journals, and software arranged by categories and linked to the publisher's WWW site makes the task of finding such information much easier.
JCE Internet has established a list of
reviewed Internet resources that have passed the review of our WWW Review Committee.
This committee has looked at numerous sites and chosen those that contain information useful to
chemistry educators. If you have a site that you would like to have listed,
submit it. If it passes our review, we'll list it.
As a way to help you decide on the content and presentation of your material to be submitted, we
suggest that you check out the Reviewers Guidelines to get a
better idea of what is expected.
