Open Review
When you make a submission to JCE Internet, you may opt to have it reviewed under our open review procedure. We have established open review in an effort to give our subscribers greater input into what we publish, give our authors a shorter time to publication and more feedback, and give our editor more information on which to base the decision about suitability for publication. Of course, the traditional review procedure is also available.

Since open review is experimental, we reserve the right to modify it. We also invite input from both subscribers and authors.

How Open Review Works

Once we have your submission and signed and your signed Copyright Assignment form we will add your submission to the list of submissions In Review. We will announce new submissions in review on the JCE Internet News page and send email announcements to interested parties who have signed our Guest Book.

Any subscriber who is willing can then view your submission and submit a critical review of it to the Editor. Once three substantive reviews (substantive determined by the editor) have been received, the recommendations and comments of the three reviewers will be sent anonymously to the author. These comments may also be accompanied by suggestions from the editor that may include comments from other less substantive reviews.

Acceptance for publication is based primarily on the recommendations and comments of the three substantive reviews. Other comments may also be considered. The submission may be accepted as is, acceptable with modification, or not acceptable for publication with JCE Internet. It is usually the case that modifications are needed to make the submission acceptable for publication. Once the author has made modifications, the reviewers will be asked to reconsider the submission and will perhaps make further recommendations and comments. This cycle is repeated until it is determined that the submission is or is not suitable for publication.

If three substantive reviews of a submission have not been received within one month of its inclusion in the In Review list, it will be determined that the submission is not suitable for publication in JCE Internet due to a lack of interest on the part of its readership.

How Traditional Review Works

The traditional review procedure works as described above except that the three reviewers are chosen by the editor.
