Open Review
JCE Internet has established Open Review in an effort to give our subscribers greater, more direct input into what we publish, give our authors a shorter time to publication and more feedback, and give our editor more information on which to base the decision about suitability for publication.
Since open review is experimental, we reserve the right to modify it. We also invite input from both subscribers and authors.
How Open Review Works
Submissions in Open Review are listed as In Review. New additions to this list are announced on JCE Internet News and via email announcements to interested parties who have signed our Guest Book (coming soon).
Any subscriber who is willing can view submissions in Open Review and submit a critical review of it to the Editor. A good critical review should address the items listed in the Reviewer Guidelines. Of course, comments on issues not mentioned in this list are also welcome. Once three substantive reviews (substantive determined by the editor) have been received, the recommendations and comments of the three reviewers will be sent anonymously to the author. These comments may also be accompanied by suggestions from the editor that may include comments from other less substantive reviews.
Reviewers may find the submission to be accepted as is, acceptable with modification, or not acceptable for publication with JCE Internet. It is usually the case that modifications are needed to make the submission acceptable for publication. Once the author has made modifications, the reviewers will be asked to reconsider the submission and will perhaps make further recommendations and comments. This cycle is repeated until it is determined that the submission is or is not suitable for publication.
First-time Reviewers and Reviewer Questionnaire
First-time reviewers are asked to provide some information about themselves and their areas of expertise in chemistry education. If you are a first-time reviewer for JCE Internet, we ask that you complete the Reviewer Questionnaire.
