Abstract
Student evaluations support the idea that students may learn as much, if not more, science by teaching it in the context of politics and history. The safe isolation of nuclear waste presents a challenge that has not yet been fully met and allows the teaching of everything on the Periodic Chart while the students are engaged in a complicated social problem. Specific links to basic chemistry and resources for more information are discussed.
