Abstract
As high school science teachers we have been challenged to provide a restructured chemistry curriculum that more effectively engages students in the process of science and its relevance in their lives. This revision has taken us from a traditional to a performance-based approach that has been shown to enhance long-term memory and student comprehension. By blending the best of traditional and nontraditional teaching and assessment methods, we have derived a curriculum suitable to students' needs.
