Abstract
The management of first-year chemistry laboratories, in which inexperienced undergraduates serve as lab assistants, was improved by the use of spreadsheets generated using Microsoft Excel software. Better statistical evaluation of results, more confidence in grade assignments, elimination of plagiarism, and overall improved performance by students were some of the advantages described.
