Abstract
An LM741 operational amplifier chip is used in an experiment for the instrumental analysis course to demonstrate several of the ways in which operational amplifiers can be used in instrumentation. The output of a single-input operational amplifier is examined as the input potential is altered. The device is also used as a multiplier, a divider, and a two-input summer. In the last portion of the experiment, the feedback resistor is replaced with a capacitor, and the device is used as a variable ramp waveform generator. Theoretical outputs from the several circuits are compared to measured values.
