Applications and Analogies
The Traveling Electron

Abstract
An analogy is drawn between the location of students on vacation and the probability of finding an electron at some point in space. Students participate in developing the analogy by indicating how far from campus they were during a given vacation period. A very large area is required in order to account for all the students during the period. Similarly, the certainty of finding the electron increases as a larger volume is considered as compared with a smaller volume.
