Trees are woody plants that contain chemicals and undergo chemical reactions. They consist of cellulose, volatile oils, fatty acids, and more. Wood is obtained from the stems, roots, and branches of trees. It is not a homogeneous material with a uniform structure but instead a tissue of different kinds of cells which perform specific functions in the living plant.
Trees are of great importance. They provide oxygen which results from photosynthesis taking place in their leaves. In addition, trees supply us with interesting products such as vanilla flavoring and natural-rubber used in cements, adhesives, vehicle tires and shoes.
