This comprehensive directory of the most current
information on two-, three-, and four-year college and
university teachers of chemistry, biochemistry,
biotechnology, chemical engineering, chemical technology, medicinal
chemistry, and other chemistry-related fields in the United
States, its territories, and Canada will be of great use and
interest not only to chemistry faculty members but to graduate
and undergraduate students, librarians, and departmental
secretaries as well. For each of the more than 2,150 academic
departments devoted to these disciplines the entire staffs
(except for emeriti, emeritae, adjunct, or visiting professors;
persons on temporary appointment; postdoctoral fellows;
research associates; or graduate students) are listed, along
with major teaching fields, highest degree earned, and
academic rank. Other departments, such as biology or physical
science, in which these disciplines are taught are also included,
but only persons who teach chemistry or related subjects are
listed for these departments.
A 45-page (four columns per page) index of 16,939
faculty members adds to the utility of this directory, which is
a perfect companion volume for three related ACS
directories - the ACS Directory of Graduate
Research (DGR) (Kauffman, G. B. J. Chem.
Educ. 1996, 73, A136), Chemical
Research Faculties: An International Directory (CRF) (Kauffman, G.
B. J. Chem. Educ. 1989, 66, A48), and
Chemical Sciences Graduate School Finder
19951996 (GSF). The great increase in length compared to the CCF 9th edition (1993, vii +
197 pp, $84.95) is due to the larger, easier-to-read type,
wider margins, and inclusion for the first time of degrees
awarded; departmental FAX numbers; electronic mail, gopher,
and World Wide Web page addresses; and faculty electronic
mail addresses.
