Abstract
There are two interesting aspects to the report "Effect of a Laboratory Manual Design Incorporating Visual Information - Processing Aids on Student Learning and Attitudes" by Precharn Dechsri, Loretta Jones, and Henry Heikkinen, published in the Journal of Research in Science Teaching 1997, 34, 891904. The authors describe a laboratory manual with changes that lead to significantly higher student scores on measures of laboratory-related achievement and psychomotor skills in addition to more favorable attitudes toward laboratory activities. They also provide a useful checklist and rubric for scoring laboratory skills.
