"Effect of a Laboratory Manual Design Incorporating Visual
Information - Processing Aids on Student Learning and Attitudes" by Precharn
Dechsri, Loretta Jones, and Henry Heikkinen, published in the
Journal of Research in Science Teaching1997,34, 891904. The authors describe a laboratory manual with
changes that lead to significantly higher student
scores on measures of laboratory-related achievement and psychomotor skills in addition
to more favorable attitudes toward laboratory activities.
They also provide a useful checklist and rubric for scoring
laboratory skills.

Our Secondary School editors work hard to distill all the JCE materials to produce a fraction of particular interest to high school teachers. We call it CLIC.
In recent years we have worked hard to better match our advertisers with our readers. When shopping for chemistry education materials, visit our advertisers' WWW sites first.
Take JCE along on your outreach missions. Copies of the Journal, guest access to JCE Online, our publications catalog, and more are available for your participants.
