October 1998 Featured on the Cover
The cover features a Pacific yew tree and the molecular structure of taxol, a potent anticancer drug that was first isolated from the bark of the Pacific yew. These images are part of this month's Viewpoints paper, "The Art and Science of Organic and Natural Products Synthesis", by K. C. Nicolaou, E. J. Sorensen, and N. Winssinger (pages 1225-1258). The cover was designed by Betsy True.
