Abstract
In recent issues, this column has included plays, essays, picture contests, and poetry. This month's column focuses on yet another literary genre, though one that is seldom associated with extended discussions of chemistry and chemical education. Quite possibly, the only example of this genre in JCE (though a notable one) - "The First Epistle of Henry the Chemist to the Uesanians" - appeared in the September 1925 issue (JCE, 1925, 2, 731). It begins with a lengthy epigraph paraphrased from "the old beautiful words" of the First Epistle of Paul to the Thessalonians. After visiting Thessalonica on his second missionary trip, Paul the Apostle wrote from Corinth to the distant church to encourage its members to resist the opposition of nonbelievers who would lead them away from the true faith.
