Full Text
JCE CD 2000 is one small CD-ROM that contains four full years of JCE Issues: 2000, 1999, 1998, and 1997. It works on both Macintosh and Windows computers and contains the full text, graphics, tables, abstracts, color for everything published in the Journal, as well as the supplemental materials and each year's annual index. The annual CD is formatted so that the articles retain their original printed appearance. Articles are easy to find and view, so that with a few mouse clicks you can easily locate, read, and print an article from your computer. Full-text searching for any author, title, word, or phrase enables you to find what you are looking for, quickly. JCE CD 2000 takes up hardly any shelf space and is very portable.

The Journal of Chemical Education on CD-ROM contains the text and graphics for all the articles, features, and reviews published in the Journal of Chemical Education. This 2000 issue of the JCE CD series includes all twelve issues of 2000 as well as the twelve issues from each of the previous three years--1999, 1998, and 1997.

Journal of Chemical Education on CD-ROM is formatted so that all articles retain as much of their original appearance as possible. Each begins with an abstract/keyword page followed by the article pages. All pages of the Journal that contain editorial content, including the front covers, tables of contents, letters, and reviews, are included. Also included are abstracts, keywords, and a wealth of supplementary materials.

The Journal of Chemical Education on CD-ROM has proven to be a useful tool for chemical educators. Its full-text searching feature can help locate articles on a particular topic or written by a particular author in any of the four JCE volumes on the CD. With a few clicks of the mouse, you can scan an article on your computer monitor. If it proves interesting, you can print it and read it in any setting you choose. It is no longer necessary to go to the library, locate an issue of JCE, and read or photocopy the article you want. Having four years of the Journal in a compact, lightweight package is extremely convenient.

Searching and Linking

One way to access articles is to search the CD for any word, partial word, or phrase. JCE CD is fully searchable. Successful searches produce a listing of articles that contain the requested text. Individual articles can be quickly accessed from this list.

Another way to access articles is from the Table of Contents. The Table of Contents of each issue is linked to the individual articles listed.

When you get to an article, you will find links to any supplementary materials. Many references to articles are also linked to the referenced article, as are WWW addresses. If you have Internet access and a WWW browser, you can go directly to the Web site with a single mouse click.
