An error appeared in my article "Motivating Students in Sophomore Organic
Chemistry by Examining Nature's Way--Why Are Vitamins E and C Such Good
Antioxidants?"
(Beaver, B. J. Chem.
Educ.1999,76, 1108-1112). A sentence in the left
column, fourth paragraph on page 1111 of the August 1999 issue reads:
The Hammond postulate will be invoked to relate the stability of the
antioxidant radical with the stability of the (late) transition state for
hydrogen atom transfer in step 7.
Our Secondary School editors work hard to distill all the JCE materials to produce a fraction of particular interest to high school teachers. We call it CLIC.
In recent years we have worked hard to better match our advertisers with our readers. When shopping for chemistry education materials, visit our advertisers' WWW sites first.
Take JCE along on your outreach missions. Copies of the Journal, guest access to JCE Online, our publications catalog, and more are available for your participants.
