How to Present a Paper or Poster

Abstract
There are two ways in which academics can notify the rest of the academic world of what they are doing: one is by publishing in journals and the other is by presenting their work at conferences. While publications in journals undergo rigorous review and are generally of a very high quality, presentations of research work at conferences are, on average, of a lower standard. However, most of the errors made by speakers are easily remedied. This paper offers some suggestions that, if followed by presenters, could lead to greater standardization and professionalism of papers and posters presented at conferences.
