Submitting a Paper to JCE?
The current version of the Guide to Submissions, Journal of Chemical Education, can be found online by clicking here. If you prefer a print version, refer to pages 29-30 of the January 2000 issue of the Journal or contact the editorial office.

Hats Off to Reviewers!
The entire Journal community owes a great debt of gratitude to our reviewers! Authors, readers, and the Journal staff depend on the efforts of our 3619 anonymous reviewers.
Each Journal submission is sent to three reviewers. They are asked to check for accuracy, omissions, suitability for the Journal audience, writing style, uniqueness--as well as typos. Reviewers tell us that they learn a lot by reviewing and enjoy the experience. Authors tell us that they are really grateful for the feedback: suggestions, insights, and omissions that reviewers spot and that can be addressed to make significant improvements.
The people listed in alphabetical order below have provided yeoman service in 2000 by reviewing ten or more manuscripts during the year. Note that reviews done by Feature Editors of papers that appear in their columns have not been included in the tabulation.

Award Deadlines
American Microchemical Society Student Awards
The American Microchemical Society announces its undergraduate awards for outstanding students who have done research in any area of analytical chemistry. Awardees will receive $1000, travel expenses up to $250, and accommodation for two nights to receive the awards at the Eastern Analytical Symposium (EAS) on September 30-October 4, 2001. The awardee is expected to present his/her work as a poster at the Undergraduate Research Poster Session at EAS.
Applications should include a cover letter, a 2-page summary of analytical research conducted by the student written in his/her own words, at least three letters of recommendation (one must be from a research director), a one-page summary of career goals, and official transcripts from undergraduate institution(s). Three copies of all materials, including letters and transcripts, should be sent to David J. Butcher, Department of Chemistry and Physics, Western Carolina University, Cullowhee, NC 28723; phone: 828/227-3683; fax: 828/227-7647; email: butcher@wpoff.wcu.edu. The deadline for applications is March 15, 2001.
Passer Education Grants
The Passer Education Grants are made possible through a generous donation of Dorothy and Moses Passer. Moses (Mike) Passer was for many years the head of the ACS Education Division. The grants are to provide support for teachers in small programs at two- and four-year colleges that do not have any advanced degree programs in the chemical sciences. The awards are to support continuing education activities that must be directly related to the applicant's teaching and must take them away from their campus.
The applicant must be a full-time faculty member at his or her institution. A committee reviews applications. There is no application form but the application must include: a description of the proposed activity and how it relates to his/her teaching with dates, locations, titles, and contacts; a brief description of the applicant's institution and department; a short curriculum vitae; an itemized estimate of expenses, amount of aid requested, and sources of all supplemental funds. Closing dates each year are: January 1, April 1, and September 1. For further information contact Donald E. Jones, djones@erols.com; 3726 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Apt. 108, Washington, DC 20008.
