There were three structural errors in our article, "Drug Metabolism: The Body's Defense against Chemical Attack" (Stachulski, A. V.; Lennard, M. S. J. Chem. Educ. 2000, 77, 349-353).

In Figure 1 on page 349, the structure of benzo[a]pyrene-4,5-epoxide should have been

In Figure 4 on page 350, the metabolism of benzo[a]pyrene to carcinogens involves positions 7,8 and 9,10 not 4,5:

with subsequent epoxidation of the 9,10 double bond also.

In Figure 6 on page 352, the Michael addition of glutathione (GSH, 2) to the quinoneimine 9, NAPQI, gives a product with the tripeptide attached ortho, not meta, to the OH group:
