Abstract
The stoichiometric displacement model adds solvent release to the adsorption equilibrium between a solute adsorbate in solution and a solid adsorbent. Unique interpretations of HPLC and isotherms of Langmuir and Freundlich type are a result. Experiments are described that are adaptable to the teaching of undergraduate laboratories in biochemistry, physical chemistry, chemical engineering, and analytical chemistry.
Supplement
Detailed instructions for students and additional tips and resources for the instructor are available.
