Three different representations of electron density in two different molecules are shown on this month's cover. Electron density is depicted as a contour map, as a color-coded relief map, and as two isodensity envelopes (one at 0.001 au and the other at the bond-critical-point density) for H2O and SCl2. The graphics are from the article by Matta and Gillespie, which provides "an introduction to the electron densities of molecules and how they can be analyzed to obtain information on bonding and geometry".

The cover was designed by Betsy True.
