This puzzle is designed to test the ability of students to remember named organic reactions and reagents. An undergraduate student who is successful in organic chemistry at the sophomore level is expected to solve the puzzle while also having fun. A portion of the puzzle is intended for the more advanced level. This in-class or at-home activity can also be used as a test because students are expected to remember the synthetic purposes and mechanisms of the named organic reactions and reagents.
Our Secondary School editors work hard to distill all the JCE materials to produce a fraction of particular interest to high school teachers. We call it CLIC.
In recent years we have worked hard to better match our advertisers with our readers. When shopping for chemistry education materials, visit our advertisers' WWW sites first.
Take JCE along on your outreach missions. Copies of the Journal, guest access to JCE Online, our publications catalog, and more are available for your participants.
