Each year we compile the text and graphics for all the articles, features, reviews, and supplemental material published in that year’s volume of the Journal of Chemical Education and place it onto one easily accessible medium: JCE CD. The 2003 edition of this series includes all 12 issues of JCE published in 2003.Browsing and SearchingJCE CD provides several ways to obtain the information you want. If you remember an article and the issue in which it appeared (or what the cover of the issue looked like) a mouse click on the Welcome page will take you to the table of contents of the issue. The title of each article in the table of contents is a link to the article. Each article includes an abstract, keywords, and links to any supplemental material that may accompany the article as well as the article itself. You can also search the contents of the CD using Adobe Acrobat Reader (included on the CD). You can search the text of all articles for any word, partial word, or phrase. You can also search titles, authors, and keywords. A successful search produces a list of links to the articles that satisfy your criteria. When you are searching the text, the text for which you searched will be highlighted in each article. You will find that many references to JCE articles in the Literature Cited section at the end of each article are linked to the article cited. If that article is not on the CD and you have an Internet connection, the linked reference will take you to JCE Online. Cited URLs (to other than JCE Online) that appear in articles are also linked directly to Web sites. Advantages of JCE on CD-ROMJCE CD 2003 is formatted so that all articles retain their original appearance. Each article file on JCE CD begins with an abstract/keyword page followed by the article pages. All pages of the Journal that contain editorial content, including the front covers, tables of contents, letters, and reviews, are included. Also included are a wealth of supplemental materials. The Journal of Chemical Education on CD-ROM is a useful tool for chemical educators. Its full-text searching feature helps you locate articles on a particular topic or written by a particular author. With a few clicks of the mouse, you can view an article on your computer monitor. You can print it if it proves interesting and read it in any setting you choose. There is no need to go to the library, locate an issue of JCE, and read or photocopy the article you want.
