This article describes a graphical and progressive presentation of the Fourier transform suitable for students who are familiar with introductory calculus and NMR theory. The presentation provides instructors with an idea of how to present the mathematical method, and leads, in a constructive way, to the connection between it and the FID treatment in NMR spectroscopy. The presented approach has been applied successfully in a third-year class and takes about an hour to present.
