Chemistry of Lubricating Grease. Several articles in this issue examine the chemistry of lubricating grease. In "Lubricating Grease: A Chemical Primer", Craig J. Donahue provides an overview of the function, properties, composition, and preparation of lubricating grease. In a companion laboratory, David Mayotte, Craig J. Donahue, and Cheryl A. Snyder describe a procedure for the identification of the thickening agents in automotive greases by GC-MS. In addition, the JCE Featured Molecules this month explore the many structural examples of lubricating greases ranging from small molecules to metal complexes to polymeric species.
Our Secondary School editors work hard to distill all the JCE materials to produce a fraction of particular interest to high school teachers. We call it CLIC.
In recent years we have worked hard to better match our advertisers with our readers. When shopping for chemistry education materials, visit our advertisers' WWW sites first.
Take JCE along on your outreach missions. Copies of the Journal, guest access to JCE Online, our publications catalog, and more are available for your participants.
