Abstract
Two long-standing errors in published point group character tables are examined. The first is the assignment in the S8 point group of (Rx, Ry) to the E1 irreducible representation rather than E3. The second is a reversal of column labeling of 2SS and 2S83 classes in the D8h group character table. These errors may trace back to 1955 and 1971 publications, respectively.
