The author replies to Vander Griend.

Congratulations to Douglas A. Vander Griend on his suggestions for modernizing and improving this learning activity that was published 9 years ago. I have found the responses and improvements over the years interesting and am gratified that it still interests teachers sufficiently to generate these further. We look forward to trying the suggestions with our large first-year classes.
