Full Text
jce cd 2007JCE CD 2007 is one small CD-ROM that contains a full year of JCE issues. It works on both Macintosh and Windows computers and contains the full text, graphics, and tables for everything published in the Journal, as well as abstracts, supplemental materials, and color versions of some figures. JCE CD presents articles with their original printed appearance. Articles are easy to find and view, so that with a few mouse clicks you can locate, read, and print an article from your computer. Full-text searching for any author, title, word, or phrase enables you to find what you are looking for, quickly. JCE CD 2007 takes up hardly any shelf space and is very portable.

In 2007 this Journal published more pages than any other previous volume. The 2007 volume also contained more supplemental materials than any previous year. Yet, we have managed to squeeze this entire record-setting year of the JCE onto JCE CD 2007. All the text and graphics (color graphics when available) for all the articles, features, reviews, and all the supplemental material for the entire year of the JCE are contained on a single space-saving, accessible, digital medium—JCE CD 2007.

Browsing and Searching

JCE CD provides several ways to obtain the information you want. If you remember an article and the issue in which it appeared (or what the cover of the issue looked like) a click on the Welcome page will take you to the table of contents of the issue. The title of each article in the table of contents is a link to the article. Each article includes an abstract, keywords, and links to any supplemental material, as well as the article itself.

You can also search the contents of the CD using Adobe Reader (included on the CD). You can search the text of all articles and supplemental material for any word, partial word, or phrase. You can also search titles, authors, and keywords. A successful search produces a list of links to the articles that satisfy your criteria. The text for which you searched will be highlighted in each article found by the search.

You will find that many references to JCE articles in the Literature Cited section at the end of each article are linked to the article cited. If the cited article is not on the CD and you have an Internet connection, the linked reference will take you to the article at JCE Online. Cited URLs that appear in articles are also linked directly to Web sites.

Advantages of JCE on CD-ROM

JCE CD 2007 retains the original appearance of all articles thanks to its use of the ubiquitous Adobe Acrobat technology. All pages of the Journal that contain editorial content—the front covers, tables of contents, letters, and reviews—are included. Also included are a wealth of supplemental materials.

The Journal of Chemical Education on CD-ROM is a useful tool for chemical educators. Its searching feature helps you locate articles on a specified topic or written by a particular author or that contain a specified word or phrase. With a few clicks of the mouse, you can view an article on your computer monitor. You can print it and read it in any setting you choose. There is no need to go to a library to locate an issue of JCE to read or to photocopy the article you want. Having a full year of the Journal in a compact, lightweight, portable, and archival package is extremely convenient.
