Abstract
The ACS Committee on Professional Training. American Chemical Society: Washington, DC, 1995. xxiv + 1701 pp. 21.5 X 28.3 cm. $65.00 US and Canada. $78.00 foreign.

The latest edition of this standard, biennial reference work contains a wealth of information on 685 academic departments in universities and colleges in the United States and Canada that offer bachelor's and master's degrees in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, pharmaceutical/medicinal chemistry, clinical chemistry, polymer science, food science, toxicology, marine science, and forensic science. A frequently consulted source of data on US and Canadian academic research and researchers, the DGR is relied upon continually by undergraduates and their faculty advisors in selecting a graduate school suited to their particular interests and talents. A sine qua non for libraries, academic institutions, and chemically oriented businesses, it provides details on each researcher's specific field of interest, and it lists the titles and complete reference citations of all his or her articles published during 1993 and 1994 (80,081 citations). Other features include complete statistical summaries of academic chemical research; listings of the number of full-time and part-time faculty, postdoctoral appointments, graduate students, and MS and PhD degrees granted by each institution; and a 24-page faculty index of 11,922 names.

This new, expanded edition is 109 pages longer than the 1993 edition, and telephone and FAX numbers for departments and faculty and computer addresses for faculty members are listed in order to facilitate communication.

Under the title Directories on Disc ($229), the 1995 DGR is available on CD-ROM (Macintosh, DOS, and Windows), along with the 1993 DGR, College Chemistry Faculties 1996, Chemical Research Faculties (1995), and, for the first time, Chemical Sciences Graduate School Finder (1995-96).
